A Development of a Deep Learning Algorithm for Retinal Image Classification for Early Detection of Diabetic Retinopathy
Abstract
Abstract:
Diabetic retinopathy is a serious eye disorder caused by diabetes that can lead to vision loss if not treated promptly. Its prevalence is steadily increasing globally. According to the World Health Organization, diabetic eye disease is one of the leading causes of blindness.
This study developed a deep learning-based system for analyzing retinal fundus images. Images were classified at various stages using a convolutional neural network architecture. Test results indicate that the proposed model provides high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. This system could help improve treatment effectiveness through early detection.
